The Story of Domino Marketing
I was driving with a friend of mine one day when he asked me what my secret was for being so successful? I told him there was no secret, I simply went to the public library and looked up in the Dun and Bradstreet all my targeted prospects I wanted to sell.
The information I obtained gave me the following information:
*Business Name
*Address
*Telephone Number
*Fax Number
*President
*Decision Makers

*Number Of Employees
*Annual Sales
*Date Business was started
*SIC Code
*Annual Sales
*And Much More

I posted all this great information on 3X5 cards for reference (Remember Them?). I then plotted them out on a street map. So I could make more sales calls in less time.
I then made a portfolio and sales presentation so I would be prepared to show and tell each time I met with the decision makers.
The great thing about using this system is that I knew where I was going each and every day. Because it was plotted on a map I knew where to start, and I knew where I stopped, therefore the next day was easy. I never had to think about where or what I was going to do the next morning, all I had to do was follow the road map I had created.
When I made my sales calls it was very easy to see people because I already knew about their business and who the decision makers were before I even
walked in the door! All I had to do was ask to see that individual by their name. And in most cases the gatekeeper would simply tell them that Paul is here to see you, and I would get to see them immediately, even without an appointment.
Don’t get me wrong, I use to laugh when sales people would call on a business and ask who buys their product or service. This was usually the dialogue:
*What company are you with?
*They wouldn’t be interested in what you have!
*They don’t see anyone without an appointment!
*They already buy from their friend!
*You’ll have to call and make an appointment!
*Do you have an appointment?’
*What are you selling!
*They’re busy!
*What is this about?
*I could go on and on

That would be enough to wear me out! Why would you want to waste your time on the phone, when you can see them immediately, without wasting your time on the telephone. I would average four new interviews each and every day I applied this system.
Yes - N0 - Or Let Me Go
This means yes I would see the decision maker, No I would not see the decision maker. If I did not see the decision maker I would get their business card and leave. I would never leave my business card.
I would then circle the block to search for new opportunities. After I had done that I need never return, because I have penetrated the heart of my territory
Those I did not see for what ever reason made up my telephone list that I
would call early AM or late PM. The reason I would not leave a business card is because I did not want to call them and have them tell me they got my card and are not interested in what I have to offer right off the bat.
When I made my telephone calls I knew I would not waste my time with
Wrong numbers, moved, or not in business any more calls. I would call daily until I talked to the decision maker. One or two things happen:
1. I would get an appointment
2. They would say no
The ones that said no, would go on my monthly newsletter mailing list for ever. Until such time they called me! They do eventually call.
So I told my friend, it’s just like dominoes. Once their lined up, just start with the first one, and the rest will happen automatically. Then I thought for a minute and said Eureka It’s “Domino Marketing”. I then drove immediately to the county courthouse and filed the name “Domino Marketing”
It took me over five years to define what I do. People would say:
*You’re a sales trainer
*You’re a motivator
The answer is no! This is what I have developed.

After a while a few salespeople asked if I would do a seminar about the Domino Marketing system. I studied hard, made notes and gave them a detailed seminar of The Domino Marketing System.
Then things got worse. I had another friend who had a PHD in business, and suggested I write a book! I told him he was crazy, I’m not a writer, I’m a marketing sales person. Well I wrote the book.
Then people would call me and want to know what the book was about? All of them that asked, bought my book.
Then the PHD suggested I publish my information on the Internet. I told him again he was crazy, I don’t even own a computer! Well he helped me buy one, and the rest as they say is history.
Since I publish my knowledge and skills to the Internet, unbelievable things have happened. Too many to explain, how ever here are just a few:
